So this is supposed to be a reinterpretation of Wario's power-ups from Wario Land SML3. I'm not dead-set on costuming, these were sorta w/o research or reference.

I'm trying to get you to make it


I might do some of the spriting.

I have many bullet points about why this would be an awesome game to romhack

w/ mostly guessing on the limitations of romhacks

I would so play this Wario Land hack. Then I'll play Trixie Land 2, 3 & 4 (if they exist, that is). All the money, randomness, and nostalgia.

Pretty cool concepts here. I can imagine her using the horn to levitate and throw enemies.

OK, you receive so many internets for this. The original Wario Land was one of my favorite GB games, back in the day. Nostalgia get! :D

Alright, I said I could give it a shot and after some browsing it might just be possible.
Why do a romhack when you can crate it from scratch?

I have never played WL but I would guess it is similar to the mario style which would mean a side scrolling platform. We could have Trixie collect little spheres of energy to increse a cutie mark meter and once it is filled we could have her level up.

The armour would most likely have to have a time limit, but that's up to debate.

The plot seems to have something to do with Fluttershy and Trxie, so I would need to know what type of plot you were looking for, key points or detail are both fine.

I am not sure if it is within my ability, but if you want it multiplayer(As in 2 people battling against the computer) then I know some people who can give me a few pointers, but again I need to know if you wish it. We could possibly make Twilight the 'Luigi' to Trixie(Mario) to stir things up, but that is just an idea.

We would also need to decide on enemies. We could have manticores as the goombas and the gryphons as the koopas maybe. I would have to figure out how to make them similar but again it should be possible.

We could make Fluttershy the boss, maybe she could be objecting to some animal related thing or been taken over by some evil parisite or whatever, again I need to know the details of what you require in a plot.

And lastly, we need a sprite designer and maybe a voice actor.

So more or less I need a reply from you before I can begin.

To give a brief about how warioland works, he has two moves - charge and butt stomp. These moves can defeat enemies, but also destroy blocks. much fun comes from destroying many blocks. There are often doors hidden behind blocks that contain special treasures.

You can also pick up and throw enemies, to hit switches, destroy blocks, destroy special enemy-only blocks, etc, which gave the game a nice bit of a puzzle feel, at least when looking for the more hidden treasures.

Collecting treasure in this game is accounted for at the end, where, depending on how much you've collected, you get a better ending. this includes the values of special treasures, in addition to basic coin collecting.

I would have the main boss be Twilight or someone like that. In Super Mario Land 2, you plays as mario and had to defeat wario - but in Wario Land, there was an entirely new main boss - Captain syrup, a pirate. Mario shows up briefly at the end. I like the concept of keeping this conflict between Trixie and Twilight, seeing as how the treasures were to be replaced with items of magical significance, but also important to twilight, so perhaps that Trixie is in this way taking some of Twi's lingering power...

Also, there are a wide variety of enemies, but standard enemies are little pirate ball-shaped guys with spears, and ducks that throw boomerangs and such. I wasn't quite sure how to make these enemies look, but possibly as some sort of minion of twilight


that, however, was just a brief overview of the gameplay mechanics that already exist, and how I was envisioning the story as a recontextualization of that. If you're working from scratch, it could be done any number of ways. I would keep twilight as the main boss, make key characters like iron will, manticore, etc (though I guess manticore could be an enemy), and I might try to have minions of twilight/dragons/ponies as some common-looking enemies with different abilities (some throw things, some have spears, etc).

I would also keep picking up and throwing enemies, as a unicorn I would imagine totally possible and the puzzle solving aspect is quite nice.

These are all just suggestions, I make these things more to inspire then anything else... if you have other ideas I'd be happy to back and fourth them. I haven't sprited in a long while so I'm a bit out of touch with it, and I'm not sure how much time I have to get back into it, but I am interested in being involved... you can see a bit earlier some concept sprites for trixie if she were replacing a B/W Wario
